1 John 2:24

Let what you heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, then you too will abide in the Son and in the Father.

You know how sometimes we chase the newest thing? New podcast, new book, new “5 steps to a better life.” Today, Apostle John pulls us back to say, “Hey, remember what you heard from the beginning.” That beginning message is simple: Jesus loves you. Jesus died for you. Jesus rose from the dead and is with you. That’s it. That’s the foundation. Life will try to complicate it. People will try to add rules to it. But if we keep going back to that first truth, we won’t get lost. It’s like going home when the world gets too loud. The gospel you first believed is still enough for today.

Think of it like charging your phone. If you’re not plugged in, you drain fast. The gospel has to be the thing we keep coming back to. When it lives in us, it starts changing how we love, how we forgive, how we rest. We stop performing and we start living. “If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, then you will abide in the Son and in the Father.”

That’s the beautiful part. When we hold on to Jesus, we realize He’s holding on to us. We’re not outsiders begging to get in. We’re family. Sons and daughters sitting at the Father’s table. The world will tell you your worth is in your work, your followers, your wins. But your real home is in the Son and the Father.

So today, let’s not chase something new. Let’s go back to the beginning. Let that truth settle in us again. And as it does, we’ll find ourselves right where we belong, abiding in God’s love.
