Zechariah spoke these words to people who had come back from exile to find Jerusalem in ruins. The temple was half-built, the fields were empty, and fear was everywhere. They had been sowing, but seeing no harvest. But God says in Zechariah 8:12: “For the seed shall be prosperous; the vine shall give her fruit, and the ground shall give her increase, and the heavens shall give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to inherit all these things.”

Notice what God links together: seed, vine, ground, heavens. Provision doesn’t come in isolation. It comes when there is peace. The verse starts with “seed shall be prosperous” because God blesses what we put in the ground, our work, our obedience, our faith. But He also says “the heavens shall give their dew.” That’s God’s part. We plant, we water, but God gives the growth (1 Corinthians 3:6)

Too often we try to build without God’s peace. We chase money, ministry, or success in a spirit of striving. But Zechariah 8:12 says blessing flows where there is no fear of the enemy. When God says “I will cause the remnant to inherit,” He’s saying: what the locust ate, I will restore. Joel 2:25. God wants to give you back years, relationships, and opportunities . Not so you can boast, but so you can be a testimony.

So what do we do with this word today? We sow again. We don’t quit because the last harvest failed. We don’t stay bitter because the last season was hard. God is saying to His people: “Lift your eyes. The dew is coming.” This promise was fulfilled in part when the temple was finished and Judah prospered, but it points ultimately to Christ, the true Seed. Galatians 3:16. In Him, every promise of God is “Yes” and “Amen” 2 Corinthians 1:20. If you feel like you’ve been sowing and seeing nothing, hold on. The same God who turned Zion’s ruins into a city of truth; Zechariah 8:3 is still speaking peace over your house. Keep planting in prayer, in kindness, in obedience. The ground is about to give her increase.
