But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing: that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. – 2 Peter 3:9

Outside of our three dimensional world – time, space and matter – exists an infinite God through whom all things were created. John 1 informs us that nothing that was made was made without Him. In our previous chapters, we learn that even though God created us in His own image, there are some non-communicable elements to His nature we still do not possess as humans. We do not have the ability to be omnipresent, omnipotent or omniscient. Our verse for today focuses on God’s timeless nature and how His perspective transcends our human concept of time.

Peter encourages us to understand that time holds a different meaning for God. While we may feel like time is passing slowly or quickly, God sees all of time in a single moment. He invites us to trust in God’s perfect timing, knowing that God is in control of all things past, present, and future. Nothing is too late or too early, everything of His is perfect, including His timing for our lives. Today, may we understand that all that is required of us is absolute trust in the infinite wisdom of our God

As we reflect on this verse, let’s consider how we can align our lives with God’s eternal perspective. Let’s strive to live each day with patience and purpose. Let’s not get ahead of God, as our actions have significance in God’s eternal plan. The Psalmist tells us that the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord. Let’s trust Him to order our steps into the right places and our lips into the right conversations. Let’s trust in His timing, even when we don’t understand it, and have faith that He is working all things together for our good.

It is my prayer that this verse will inspire us to seek God’s wisdom and guidance in every moment, trusting in His eternal love and provision. Let’s live each day with faith and hope, knowing that God’s timing is always perfect. Amen.
