As for you, see that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father. – 1 John 2:24

The book of 1 John, is one of the last manuscripts Apostle Paul wrote to the church before his passing. This was a time when the very message of Christ was heavily questioned and persecution of Christians was at its peak. In subsequent versus before our verse for today, the Apostle talks about the falling away of many believers, he encouraged the remaining believers to hold on to what they have heard from the beginning, which is – Christ is the Savior of the world and only through Him will all men be saved.

Today, there seems to be a falling away as opposition against Chrstiandom is on the high. There are calls to imbibe non-Christian values like LGBTQ in the body of Christ, and believers who stand against it are considered archaic and are thought of as people lacking moral virtues. In the western world, several churches approve same sex marriages and go to the extent of blessing them at the altar. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever, what He hated yesterday, He still hates today.

I pray that we can all embrace this truth and stand for true Christian values, the ones we heard from the beginning. I pray that God Himself, will give us the strength to remain in Him. Stand for Him and keep us blameless until the day of His appearing, in Jesus name. Amen.
