In Hebrews 4:12, the word of God is described as alive and active. Sharper than a double edged sword which is able to penetrate and divide soul and spirit, bone and marrow. It judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. We know that by this very word the world and all that is in it were formed (Genesis 1:1-26). The word endures forever (Matthew 24:35), and by the word men will be judged. (John 12:48).
Many times in the Bible, men of God overcame insurmountable odds by solely depending on the word of God. Jesus rose Lazarus to life, by the word. He cast out demons, healed lepers, set captives free and challenged the status quo at the time – all by the word. God says to prophet Jeremiah – “Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?” – Jeremiah 23;29
We are born again through the power of the Word, we know God through His word (Proverbs 2:5), the word is the source of our Faith (Romans 10:17), the word of God is our Spiritual Food and Guide (1Peter 2:2), the word gives us victory from sin (Psalm 119:11) and is our tool for Spiritual warfare (Ephesians 6:17). Without the word, we have no relationship with God, we are helpless.
What God expects from us is to do much more than those who came before us. (John 14:12) We have a responsibility to learn how to obtain the same results Jesus and biblical prophets obtained when they used God’s word. Jesus says to us, “you may ask anything in my name, and I will do it.” So the key here is praying with the name of Jesus!
The word of God is alive and active, and it gives us power to judge and put an end to any negative cycle or situation in our life, there is so much more we can do for ourselves and humanity if we position ourselves in this light.
Prayer
Today, we nullify and put to silence every voice that sets itself up against the word of God in our lives, and we declare that the will of the enemy will not prevail over our lives. Only the will of God will stand. Amen.
