In Exodus 23:20, God says, “See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared.” This is a deeply comforting promise. Before Israel faced the heat of the desert, the fear of enemies, or the uncertainty of tomorrow, God had already gone ahead of them. He did not simply give directions and step back. He stayed involved. Like a loving Father, He made sure they were protected and guided every step of the journey.
There is also something very human in God’s instruction to listen and pay attention to the angel. God knows how easily we get distracted, stubborn, or impatient. He reminds His people that guidance works best when we are willing to listen. Many of our delays in life come not from God’s absence, but from our refusal to trust His direction. When we slow down enough to obey, we often realize that God has been gently leading us all along.
This verse speaks to anyone who feels unsure about what lies ahead. Whether you are facing a big decision, a difficult season, or an unknown future, God’s promise still stands. He goes before you. You are not walking into tomorrow alone. Trust Him enough to take the next step, listen for His voice, and move forward with peace, knowing that the place you are headed is already prepared by God.
