“Lead me, LORD, in your righteousness.” – Pslam 5:8
Beloved in the Lord, in Apostle Paul’s first letter to the church of Corinth, he points out that there is only one God, the Father, who is the source of all things (1 Corinthians 6:8), implying that our entire essence is dependent on God. In this simple yet profound truth lies the foundation of our relationship with the Creator. When we acknowledge God as our source, we recognize that every good thing we have comes from Him. Our life, our breath, our provisions, our strength, and our hope. If we aspire to live a purposeful and righteous life, we must turn to Him for guidance or direction.
In our verse for today, the Psalmist makes a heartfelt cry for guidance and direction from God. It’s a request for God to lead to lead us into His righteousness, His ways, His standards, and His character. This prayer is an admission of our need for God’s guidance and to walk in paths that are in line with His holy and just nature. It’s an acknowledgment that without His leading, we might stray into ways that don’t honor Him or lead to life as He intends.
May we echo this prayer in our own lives, asking God to lead us in His righteousness. May we seek His guidance in all we do, trusting that His ways are higher and better than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9). As we ask for this leading, may we also be open to the transformation that comes from walking in God’s paths, His ways, embracing His values, and reflecting His character in our lives. In being led by God’s righteousness, we find a path that leads to life, peace, and ultimately to glorifying Him.
