“Put away perversity from your mouth; keep corrupt talk far from your lips.” – Proverbs 4:24

Perverse talk refers to speech that is twisted, distorted, or contrary to what is good and right. It encompasses language that is hurtful, corrupt, or depraved, often causing harm to others or promoting negativity. This can include gossip, swear words, lies, coarse joking, hate speech, or any words that undermine love, respect, and kindness.

Perverse talk can damage relationships, erode trust, and reflect poorly on one’s character. As followers of Jesus, we are called to avoid such speech and instead use our words to build up, encourage, and bring life to those around us. Our words have the power to build up or tear down, to bring life or death. When we speak with kindness, respect, and integrity, we build bridges, foster relationships, and bring hope to others. Let us prioritize speaking life, choosing words that uplift and inspire, rather than tearing down or hurting.

As disciples of Jesus, let us seek to honor Him with our words, using our language to reflect His love and grace. May our conversations be marked by kindness, compassion, and truth, bringing joy and encouragement to those around us. By the power of the Holy Spirit, let us speak words that bring life, healing, and hope to a world in need.
