“For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come.” (Hebrews 13:14)
As followers of Jesus, we are reminded that our time on this earth is temporary. We are pilgrims and strangers, passing through a world that is not our permanent home. Our eyes are fixed on a future city, a heavenly reality that God has prepared for us. This perspective shapes how we live, how we prioritize our time, and how we respond to the challenges and opportunities of life.
In a world that often prioritizes the temporary and the tangible, we are called to live with an eternal perspective. We must invest in things that have lasting value, we must build relationships that endure, and we must seek to honor God in all that we do. This doesn’t mean we neglect our responsibilities in the present, but rather that we live with a sense of purpose and direction, knowing that our true home is yet to come.
As we journey through life, let us keep our eyes fixed on the city that is to come. May we live with hope, anticipation, and joy, knowing that our best is yet to be. Let us prioritize the eternal over the temporary, and let our lives be shaped by the promise of a future inheritance that will never fade. In this way, we can live with purpose, peace, and confidence, even in the midst of uncertainty.
