Then Nebuchadnezzar spoke, saying, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who has sent His Angel and delivered His servants who trusted in Him, and they have frustrated the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god except their own God.” –
Daniel 3:28. These words of Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel 3:28 are a powerful testimony to the faithfulness of God. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego had been thrown into the fiery furnace for refusing to worship the king’s idol, but God had miraculously delivered them.
This verse highlights the theme of trust and obedience. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego had trusted in God, even when it seemed like He was not present. They had obeyed God’s command to worship only Him, even when it meant facing certain death. And God had rewarded their trust and obedience by delivering them from the flames. This story encourages us to trust in God, even when things seem impossible, and to obey Him, even when it’s hard.
So let us ask ourselves today: are we trusting in God, even when things seem uncertain? Are we obeying Him, even when it’s difficult? Let us remember that God is faithful, and that He will deliver us from any fiery furnace that we may face. May we be like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, trusting in God and obeying Him, no matter what.
