That your Joy may be complete

And we are writing these things so that our joy may be complete. – 1 John 1:4

Apostle John opens the book of 1 John with what many will call appellations to the revelation of Christ Jesus and how beautiful an experience it was to be close to Him. He starts by acknowledging the deity of Christ, mentioning that Christ lived from the beginning, then he goes on to highlight that he saw Christ, touched Him and saw the authority with which Christ walked the face of the earth.

In chapter 4, which happens to be our verse for today, the Apostle makes a profound statement about how important it is to write about his experiences with Christ. He says that writing about these will make his joy complete. To Him, it was not enough that He experienced the life changing power of Christ, he wants to world to know and experience it also. So he goes on to put these experiences into writings so they can be read about and pursued by generations unborn.

Today, we too have the challenge to witness about Christ. We too, have seen the works of Christ in our lives, we have felt Him, we have experienced His goodness; and we must not stay quiet. God is calling us to a place of completion, He is calling us to be witnesses of His goodness to a lost world. He is calling us to share the good news of His salvation to all and sundry, by word of mouth, by writing, and by living out His word. I pray that we will follow in the steps of Apostle John and be faithful witnesses of Christ, so that our joy will be complete. Amen.
