“I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.” – Jeremiah 31:33
Our verse for today is a beautiful picture of the transformative power of God’s presence in our lives. When God puts His law within us and writes it on our hearts, He is not just giving us a set of rules to follow, He is giving us a new nature, a new heart, a new way of living. As stated in the book of Ezekiel, He says that “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you. I will change your heart of stone into a heart of flesh.”
This verse highlights the difference between external obedience and internal transformation. Under the old covenant, God’s people were required to follow a set of external rules and regulations. But under the new covenant, God’s people are transformed from the inside out. They are given a new heart, a heart that is capable of loving and obeying God. And it is this internal transformation that enables us to live in a way that is pleasing to God.
So let us ask ourselves today: have we experienced this internal transformation? Have we allowed God to put His law within us and write it on our hearts? Or are we still trying to live the Christian life through external obedience? Let us remember that God desires to transform us from the inside out, to give us a new heart, a new nature, and a new way of living. May we surrender to His transformative power, and may we live in the joy and freedom of the new covenant.
