And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day. – John 6:40
For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day. These words of Jesus in John 6:40 are a powerful reminder of the simplicity and clarity of the gospel. Jesus is saying that the will of God is that everyone who believes in Him will have eternal life. It’s not about complicated rituals or rules, but about simple faith in Jesus.
This verse highlights the importance of beholding and believing in Jesus. To behold Jesus means to see Him for who He truly is: the Son of God, the Savior of the world. And to believe in Him means to put our trust in Him, to rely on Him for our salvation and our eternal life. When we behold and believe in Jesus, we are not just intellectual assenting to a set of facts, we are entering into a living relationship with the living God.
So let us ask ourselves today: are we beholding and believing in Jesus? Are we putting our trust in Him, and relying on Him for our salvation and our eternal life? Let us remember that the will of God is that everyone who believes in Jesus will have eternal life. May we behold Him, may we believe in Him, and may we experience the eternal life that He offers. May we be people who are characterized by simple faith in Jesus, and may we live in the joy and freedom that comes from knowing Him
