“I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.” (Matthew 10:16)

In this verse, Jesus is sending out His disciples to preach the gospel and spread the message of the kingdom. He warns them that they will be like sheep among wolves, vulnerable and open to attack. This is a sobering reminder that following Jesus and sharing His message is not always easy or safe.

But Jesus doesn’t just leave His disciples with a warning; He also gives them wisdom and guidance on how to navigate these challenging situations. He tells them to be as wise as snakes and as harmless as doves. This means being wise and discerning, able to navigate complex situations and avoid danger, while also being pure and innocent, untainted by the corruption and sin of the world.

So let us take Jesus’ words to heart, dear friends. As we seek to follow Him and share His message with others, let us be wise and discerning, navigating the challenges and dangers of this world with care and caution. And let us also be pure and innocent, reflecting the character and love of Christ in all that we do. May we be faithful witnesses for Jesus, and may we bring glory and honor to His name.
