Mercy, Peace and Love

“May mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you”. – Jude 1:2

May mercy, peace and love be multiplied to you. These are the words of Jude, a brother of James and a servant of Jesus Christ, as he opens his letter to the early Christian church. But these are not just empty words; they are a heartfelt blessing, a prayer that God would lavish His mercy, peace, and love upon His people. In a world that can often be harsh and unforgiving, Jude reminds us that we serve a God who is merciful, peaceful, and loving.

Notice the order of Jude’s blessing: mercy, peace, and love. It’s not a coincidence that he lists mercy first. You see, we need God’s mercy because we are sinners. We have fallen short of His glory, and we deserve His wrath. But instead of giving us what we deserve, God shows us mercy. He forgives us, He pardons us, and He restores us to a right relationship with Himself. And from that foundation of mercy, we can experience true peace and love.

So let us receive Jude’s blessing today. Let us ask God to multiply His mercy, peace, and love in our lives. May we be people who are characterized by these qualities, people who show mercy to those around us, people who are at peace in the midst of chaos, and people who love others with the same love that God has shown us. May Jude’s blessing be our reality, and may we be a blessing to others as we live out our faith in Jesus Christ.
