As the Lord commanded his servant Moses, so Moses commanded Joshua, and Joshua did it; he left nothing undone of all that the Lordcommanded Moses. – Joshua 11:15
In Joshua 11:15, we see a powerful affirmation of Joshua’s obedience and faithfulness to God’s commands. In the chapters and books preceding our verse for today, we see Moses set several good examples for Joshua. Joshua was able to complete His assignment by the power of God, we can also attribute the success to the example God through Moses set for him. Throughout Moses leadership, he demonstrated unwavering faith, obedience to God, and dedication to the mission entrusted to him. He faced numerous challenges, yet he continually sought God’s guidance and followed His commands, which provided a strong model for Joshua to emulate.
This scripture also highlights the significance of continuity in God’s plan. Joshua’s adherence to Moses’ commands signifies a generational transfer of responsibility and faithfulness. It serves as a reminder that the work of God is often built upon the foundations laid by those who came before us. Just as Joshua honored Moses’ leadership, we are called to honor those who have guided us in our spiritual journeys and to carry forward the legacy of faith that has been entrusted to us. Our actions today can impact future generations, and we must strive to fulfill our roles in God’s unfolding story.
Finally, Joshua 11:15 challenges us to consider our own obedience in our daily lives. Are we leaving anything undone that God has called us to do? Today we have learned about how diligently Joshua followed Moses’ example. In a world filled with distractions and competing priorities, we must prioritize our relationship with God and be diligent in fulfilling His will. Let us take inspiration from Joshua’s example and commit ourselves to act faithfully, ensuring that we do not leave any part of God’s calling unaddressed. As we do so, we can trust that God will lead us to victory and fulfillment in His purpose for our lives.
