Light of the World

No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. – Luke 8:16

In our verse for today, Jesus teaches us about the importance of our faith and the light that we carry within us. He says, “No one lights a lamp and hides it in a jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand so that those who come in can see the light” to remind us that our faith is not meant to be concealed or kept private. Just as a lamp is placed where it can illuminate the darkness, we are called to let our light shine brightly in the world. Our actions and words should reflect the love and teachings of Christ, guiding others toward Him.

As we consider this call to be visible lights in our communities, we must reflect on what it means to share our faith openly. It is easy to keep our beliefs to ourselves, especially in a world that often discourages open expression of faith. However, Jesus encourages us to be bold in our witness. Our lives should serve as a testament to the transformative power of His love. When we allow our light to shine, we not only bless those around us but also fulfill our purpose as followers of Christ.

As we embrace our role as lights in the world, let us commit to shining brightly, drawing others to the love of Christ and helping them find their own light.
