Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. – Revelation 3:20
As we reflect on our verse for today, “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock,” we are reminded about the persistent and gentle nature of Christ in His pursuit to have fellowship and communion with us. While all authority is His, He never pushes Himself on us. Rather, He gently knocks on the door our hearts and hopes we open up to Him. Today, this verse is calling us to listen to God’s whispers and welcome in the goodness that He brings. It is a profound reminder that opportunities for connection and growth with God are always present; we need only be willing to open our hearts to Him to share in the fellowship.
The promise of sharing a meal together symbolizes the intimacy and closeness that comes from a genuine relationship with Jesus. In His last days on earth, He broke bread with His disciples and had wine with them. This symbolized the holy communion He desires to have with all who follow Him. Today, He is taking it a step further, He stands at the door of our hearts, yearning for us to open up to Him so he can eat with us. In this act of communion, there is a beautiful exchange of not just food but also of understanding, compassion, and fellowship. By actively having fellowship with Him, we will be transformed and take His likeness.
May we embrace the message of opening the door and welcoming in the divine presence of God, and May we remember that the act of opening our hearts to God is not just an invitation for Him to have communion with us, but also an opportunity for us to grow, learn, and enrich our lives through His spirit and wisdom. To us all who are yet to open our hearts up to Christ, may we receive the strength to do so. May His presence bring an abundance of blessings and breakthrough in our lives. In Jesus name, Amen.
