Look among the nations and watch— Be utterly astounded! For I will work a work in your days which you would not believe, though it were told you. – Habakkuk 1:5

Today, God is calling us to “look among the nations and watch” with astonishment at the marvelous works of God. The prophet’s message resonates with the idea that God’s ways are higher than our ways, and His plans are beyond our understanding. Just as Habakkuk was challenged to trust in God’s sovereignty despite the impending judgment, we too are urged to have faith in God’s divine purpose, even when faced with trials that seem insurmountable.

God’s promise to “work a work in your days” that surpasses human belief serves as a beacon of hope and encouragement. It is a promise to exceed the expectation of all who follow Him and serves as a reminder that God is orchestrating events for our ultimate good, even if we cannot see the full picture.

Like Habakkuk, we are called to trust in the unseen hand of God, knowing that His plans are for our welfare and not for harm, to give us a future and a hope.

As we reflect on this verse, let us embrace the mystery of God’s workings and find solace in the fact that His ways are perfect, even when they seem perplexing to us. Just as Habakkuk was called to trust in God’s unfathomable plan, may we too lean on His wisdom and sovereignty, knowing that He is always at work for our good. Let us stand in awe of the mighty works of God, trusting in His promises and believing that He will indeed fulfill what He has spoken, even if it surpasses our understanding.
