We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. – Hebrews 2:1

We live in the age of information and that’s a good thing. Right? Increased accessibility to technological devices means that we can get instant answers or solutions to the most pressing dilemmas we seek to resolve. It also means that we are exposed to many sources of information, some of which are detrimental to our faith. They say information is power because it has the ability to shape opinions and change belief systems.

As believers, how do we decipher the right source of information from the wrong one?

How do we ensure that we do not get infiltrated by wayward theories that may sway us away from the truth? The answer is simple, we must pay attention to scripture. After Moses passed, God advised Joshua to study and meditate on the book of the law at all times. Our verse for today calls us to do same. We are charged to pay careful attention to what we have heard and learned from scripture. In doing so we will remain in alignment with the will of God.

A lot of evil things have been normalized on the internet, especially on our social media platforms. So many content created are themed around fornication, lying, cheating and maliciousness. Therefore, we have an obligation to judge every information or content out there against scripture. In doing so, we will decipher what is good and what is not.

I pray we will be empowered to pay attention to scripture and judge every piece of information against it. I pray we will be empowered to do what is required of us when we come across wayward and evil inspired opinions and theories. In Jesus name. Amen.
