“Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.” – 1 Timothy 6:9
Ecclesiastes 10:19 tells us that money answers all things, and rightly so. It helps when you have money; it’s even better when you have it in excess. Money is the solution to many problems that plaque people today, it is a blessing I hope everyone experience in their lifetime. However; as good as money can be, scripture warns us to be careful not to love it or make it an obsession.
“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.” – 1 Timothy 6:10
Apostle Paul tells us in our verse for today that he who wants to get rich opens himself up to traps, temptations and many foolish desires that plunge people into destruction. If we become obsessed with money, our eyes automatically sway away from God and we lose our sense of morality. Many people who have developed an obsession for money have lost all consciousness of God and given themselves up to a lot of negative vices.
Prostitution, stealing, corruption, gambling, witchcraft and money rituals among many others are some of the vices many people have fallen into. It is important that we guard our hearts from obsessively loving money, so we also do not fall into temptations and traps that sway us away from God.
In the book of Jeremiah, God promises to prosper us and give us a future, His desire is to see us prosper in all spheres of our lives. He is a God who blesses and adds no sorrow to it, He adds no conditions or vices. He is a God we can rely on, and I pray that we will remain patient and steadfast while we wait on Him to bless us in His appointed time.
It is my prayer also, that our brothers and sisters who for the love of money have turned away from God will be redirected to Him in Jesus name. Amen.
