Be merciful to those who doubt – Jude 1:22

In our quest to share the gospel and the glorious power of our faith, we will encounter many people full of doubt and uncertainty about our master and savior, Jesus Christ. There are people who have taken a stand against anything related to Christ, they come across as intolerant and to some extent, aggressive. The normal reaction to arrogant and aggressive people, especially when it comes to matters of their own interest will be to leave them to their will. However, Jude the Apostle alludes that doing that will be too detrimental. Instead, he encourages us to treat these people with all the mercy there is.

2 Peter 3:9 gives us a similar viewpoint on this matter, Apostle Peter tells us that God does not wish for anyone to perish, and that His greatest desire is for all to come to repentance. All, including the aggressive, the arrogant, and the one who doubts. Just as God shows us endless compassion and patience, we are also called to extend the same grace to others who may be struggling in this regard. And we must always be ready to guide them to the truth.

Mercy is a powerful force that can bridge the gaps created by doubt, fear, and confusion. By showing mercy to those who doubt, we emulate the love of God, who understands our weaknesses and meets us with open arms. It is through our acts of mercy and support that we can help uplift and strengthen our brothers and sisters who constantly live in doubt and unbelief.

Our call for today is simple, let’s be merciful to those who doubt. I pray God will empower us to walk in this light therein, in Jesus name. Amen.
