For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. – 2 Corinthians 4:17

In times of trouble and hardship, we are reminded by the words of the Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 4:17, “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.” The verse points out that the troubles we face, though they may seem overwhelming in the present moment, are but a fleeting shadow in the light of eternity.

Just as a caterpillar undergoes a transformation in the darkness of its cocoon before emerging as a beautiful butterfly, so too do our struggles shape us for the glory that awaits. Our faith is tested and refined in the fire of adversity, preparing us for the eternal joy that surpasses all earthly trials.

Let us not lose heart in the face of challenges, but instead, let us fix our eyes on the eternal glory that is being worked in us through our present struggles. Just like Jesus, who for the glory set before Him, endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. May we find comfort in the knowledge that God’s love and grace sustain us through every trial, guiding us towards a future filled with everlasting joy and peace.
