Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act. – Proverbs 3:27

Dear brothers and sisters, today we are reminded of the importance of immediate kindness. The verse “Do not say to your neighbor, ‘Come back tomorrow and I’ll give it to you’—when you already have it with you” speaks to the essence of compassion and generosity in our daily lives. As followers of Christ, we are called to embody kindness not only in our thoughts and intentions but also in our actions.

It is easy to postpone acts of goodness, to delay extending a helping hand or a word of encouragement. However, the true test of our faith lies in our ability to seize the present moment to spread love and grace. Apostle James throws more light on this in James 2:15-17, he says, “If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, and one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.”

Let us remember that every opportunity to show kindness is a gift from God, an opportunity to reflect His unconditional love to those around us. By embracing the principle of immediate generosity, we not only uplift others but also nourish our own souls with the joy of giving.

May we be known not for what we promise to do but for what we do in the present moment. Let us be beacons of light, shining with the kindness that flows from the heart of our Lord.

It is my prayer that we approach everyday with open hearts and willing hands, ready to extend kindness in the now, for in doing so, we honor God and embody His love in the world. Amen.
