By wisdom the LORD laid the earth’s foundations, by understanding he set the heavens in place. – Proverbs 3:19

Over the centuries, the above hymn has led many to worship and still inspires all who are awestruck by the wonder of the universe. One can’t help but think about the sheer creative brilliance of God on display, one can’t help but praise the Lord if we consider that He spoke all of the heavens and the earth into being. How great and mighty is our God?

In our verse for today, King Solomon re-echoes this, he points that “by wisdom the LORD laid the earth’s foundations, and by understanding he set the heavens in place.” This verse emphasizes the divine wisdom and power of the LORD in creating and sustaining the world. It speaks of the meticulous and orderly nature of God, and we can relate this to our lives as believers.

If wisdom, he set the foundations of the earth, then by wisdom He has our lives planned out. He has meticulously set the phases of our lives and if we are ever to fulfill our destinies, we best understand the importance of seeking wisdom and knowledge from the LORD, acknowledging His supreme authority and sovereignty over all creation.

Scripture tells us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, it is my prayer that we will always be guided by this and walk faithfully before God, so we can test and manifest His ultimate will for our lives, Amen.
