Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. – Matthew 7:7-8
In Matthew 7:7-8, Jesus gives us a beautiful promise and a powerful invitation. He tells us to ask, seek, and knock, and assures us that when we do, we will receive, find, and have doors opened for us.
This passage is a reminder of the Lord’s incredible love, grace, and willingness to listen to our prayers. It shows us that we have direct access to God and that He longs for us to come to Him with our needs, desires, and concerns. He wants us to approach Him with confidence, knowing that He is a loving Father who delights in giving good gifts to His children.
When we ask, it demonstrates our humility and dependence on God. It’s an acknowledgment that we can’t do everything on our own and that we need His help and guidance. And when we seek, it shows our active pursuit of a deeper relationship with Him. Prayer, devotionals and studying scriptures are all signs of our hunger for His truth, wisdom, and presence in our lives.
Knocking represents our persistence and faith. It’s a reminder that we shouldn’t give up easily, but rather continue to seek God’s will and trust that He will open doors for us in His perfect timing. Sometimes the answers to our prayers may not come immediately or in the way we expect, but we can trust that God knows what’s best for us.
So, my friends, let us be encouraged by this promise from Jesus. Let us approach God with boldness, knowing that He hears us and wants to answer our prayers. Let us seek Him with all our hearts, knowing that we will find Him. And let us knock on the doors of opportunity, trusting that God will open them according to His perfect plan.
May we always remember the incredible privilege we have to come before the throne of grace and bring our requests to our loving Heavenly Father. And may we never cease to ask, seek, and knock, knowing that He is faithful to fulfill His promises. Amen.
