To the Soul who seeks Him

“The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him.” – Lamentations 3:25

How long can an afflicted child of God wait on the salvation of the Lord? How long ? Could they wait until they’re hundred years old like Abraham? Could they survive a 28 year old marriage without a child like Isaac? Under no certain terms do I invalidate anyone’s pain or suffering with the above analogy but if we were made to wait for our breakthrough, healing or deliverance, how long could we wait on God? How long could our faith stand?

This is a question that has baffled a lot of believers across the ages, because the ways of God are higher than our ways, more often than not we tend to have a challenge accepting the process God may be taking us through. Jeremiah wailed over a dying and perishing nation, a nation that had been conquered by the Babylonians and taken into captivity. In our verse for today, he assures himself that although they perish and are captives, it is good to count on God for salvation. He says that however long it takes, God is always good to the soul that seeks Him and so he will wait.

Many of us today find ourselves in the shoes of the prophet. We may not be captives or have our nation conquered but we may be struggling with a health condition that seems to never go away, joblessness, infertility, delay or stagnation. We must encourage ourselves and be reminded that the ways of God are higher than our ways, and that our God is always on time. He is good to the soul that waits on Him. Today, I pray that whatever situation we may be going through in our life, we will not lose hope. Rather, we will say to the Lord that He is our hope and refuge, and that we await His salvation with our whole heart. In Jesus name, Amen.
