“The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” – Exodus 14:4

Oxford dictionary describes giants as imaginary or mythical beings with superhuman forms and qualities. Scripture confirms the existence of giants at one point in human civilization, clearly, not as mythical beings. In Genesis 6, we learn that giants existed among humans,these were the offspring of angels that left their heavenly estates to lay with women. The Bible tells us that these men, the giants, were mighty and great men of old who did great things in the earth. (Genesis 6:4)

In the book of Numbers, we learn again that Canaan was populated by giants, and that terror struck the hearts of ten of the twelve spies of Israel that were sent to survey the land God had promised to give them. The size of these giants intimidated them so much that,they spread fear among the people in the camp, which eventually led to a great degree of unbelief from the people.

The two men, Joshua and Caleb, who gave a contrary report were almost stoned. So the presence of the Lord appeared in the camp and said this to Moses, “, “How long will these people treat me with contempt, How long will they refuse to believe in me, in spite of all the signs I have performed among them?.”

Many a time, in the face of giants we forget all the great things God has done in our lives and behave like the ten spies who spread fear and panic in the camp of the Israelites, we forget the battles He’s won for us, the pits he’s delivered us from, the addictions, negative cycles, barrenness etc. Like the Israelites, we are always fixated at the challenge in front of us and forget the great king on our side.

Today, we are reminded that God is on our side and He will fight for us. There may be giant obstacles between us and our promises but the Lord says He will fight for us. I pray that we open our hearts up to this blessed assurance and embrace it with all the faith in us, in Jesus name, Amen. We are reminded in our verse for today,to hold our peace because God will fight for us!
