I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.- 3 John 1:4

For most people money is the source of their joy. For others, the tender cry of a baby. Others find joy in serving, working day jobs, traveling or making use of their gifting. Have you ever wondered what gives God joy? Is it the universe still obeying every rule he laid down? The angels in Heaven? The awesomeness of His creations? What could that be ?

I do not believe we could ever get to the point where we become the source of His joy because He is independent in Himself and is very capable of being happy without us, but I do believe that we tickle his condolence to a degree.

One day, while Jesus was talking to the multitude, His mother and siblings came looking for Him. It is very certain His answer was not what they were expecting. He answered and said to the one who told Him, “Who is My mother and who are My brothers?” And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, “Here are My mother and My brothers! For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.” Clearly signaling that the Lord takes delight in those who obey Him.

In our verse for today, we see Apostle John express great delight at the church in Asia Minor for sticking to the scriptures and living by the truth. In his letter to Gaius, he says “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.” The obedience of the church brought John joy, they gave God joy as well. Every child of God who obeys Him brings Him joy, He takes delight in them.

Obedience is one of the keys to His heart, I pray that we will all take that path and always look to please Him in spite of any difficulty that may come our way. This is the word of God. Amen.
