“I recall the many miracles he did for me so long ago. Those wonderful deeds are constantly in my thoughts. I cannot stop thinking about them.” – Psalm 77:11–12
It’s interesting to note that the psalmist claimed to be continually thinking about God’s goodness. Recognizing the blessings that God has bestowed upon us serves to strengthen our faith and sustain us. Yesterday, we learned that faith cometh by hearing, and that the more we are exposed to God’s word, the more we increase in faith.
You can’t be pessimistic when you are constantly thanking God for his favor and benefits in your life. But far too often, we forget what we should remember—our triumphs, accomplishments, and the happy times—and recall what we should forget—our disappointments, wounds, and failures.
It’s crucial that you often reflect on God’s goodness. You can do this by recalling the significant triumphs in your life, the unanticipated ones, or the instances in which you were aware of God’s protection and intervention in your life.
When you realized your sins were forgiven and you were accepted as God’s child, do you recall? Your faith will deepen and your joy will overflow if you come to understand that although faith cometh by hearing, our constant remembrance of the Goodness of God is what keeps us at the standard required. This is the word of God, Amen.
