Faith Cometh by Hearing

“So faith cometh by hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” – Romans 10:17

How crucial is faith to the Christian? We learn from scripture that faith is complete trust and confidence in someone or something. Several dictionaries define faith as a strong belief in a doctrine based on spiritual understanding. Hebrew 11:1 tells us that faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Complete Faith in God will cause you to overcome the fear of the unknown, an impending doom, a crisis, and will justify your righteousness before God. The bible tells us that the righteous shall live by faith (Romans 1:17) and that without faith, it is impossible to please God.

How can one ever have the faith of the people of old? Scripture teaches us that faith comes by hearing the word of God. “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” Romans 10:17 . This means that you cannot choose to live without the word and God and have your faith increased. You must desire more of God and His word.

Everything outside of God’s word is a distraction – worldly music, worldly lifestyle, pornography and the likes, they hinder your faith. Jesus tells us in John 6:63 that “the words I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are life”. When the word of God enters you, it awakens your spirit, part of that is the activation your faith.

I pray that you receive the strength to let go of all other distractions and allow yourself for the word of God to activate your faith to the level required of You to receive from the Lord. In Jesus name, Amen.
