“I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit.” – Ephesians 3:16
God is a believer in people. He believes in the potential he has embedded in everyone on earth and His desire is to see us exploit them to the maximum. Many of us in today’s world feel unworthy, unprepared, and weak, and we are ignorant of the extent to which God desires to use us. The bible does not suggest that Noah was a carpenter, and yet by his hand God built an ark to preserve mankind.
Throughout scriptures we see how God empowered “unqualified” people to accomplish His purpose. He empowered engineers, potters, tent makers, tax collectors, shepherds, fishermen, a young carpenter, and even a prostitute from Jericho. When the angel of God referred to Gideon as a “mighty man of Valor” he did not even believe it. However, by the time of his death, he was regarded as a great army general. Gideon first appears in the book of Judges as a young coward who is crushing wheat in a winepress.
“God used Moses's mouth to deliver all the Hebrews from Egypt, and Moses couldn’t even speak.” - Bishop T.D Jakes
Because we feel unworthy, unprepared, or weak, a lot of us today are reluctant to answer God’s call in our lives. None of the people mentioned in the above were perfect. Moses stammered and yet by his words Pharaoh let Israel free, Noah was a farmer and yet he built an ark. Nehemiah, a cup bearer, rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem. They accomplished all these feats because God empowered them. And if God could use them, He can certainly use us; all we need to do is avail ourselves. This is a call to avail yourself to the cause of God. Your weakness does not matter, your shortcomings do not matter. He is saying to you today, “I will empower you, do not be afraid.”
I pray that from His glorious, unlimited resources He will empower us all with inner strength to look above our limitations and obey His call at all times. Amen!
