God is not Mocked

“Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.” – Galatians 6:7

A very knowledgeable man of God educated me on the communicable and incommunicable attributes of God some weeks back. He shared that creating man in His own image required that God share some of His attributes with us. Love, patience, wisdom, creativity are some of the attributes he breathed into us. His ability to be omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient etc. were not shared with us. That is why even though men were created in God’s image, we cannot be all powerful, all present and all knowing like Him.

It is impossible for man to think he can outsmart or fool God. God’s omnipotence and omnipresence nature makes it absolutely impossible for a man to outsmart Him. They say information is power. Well, God has all the information in the world. Past, present and future, guess what that makes Him? He has every possible turn or event figured out. (Romans 8:29-31)

This is also why the King Solomon encourages us to exercise a great deal of carefulness when dealing with God, in our speech and in our actions.” Do not be quick with your mouth, do not be hasty in your heart to utter anything before God.” – Ecclesiastes 5:2. We must not profess one thing to Him and go on to do the opposite, and then think to ourselves He has not seen. We must not take the path of Ananias and Saphira.

Secondly, it is a natural phenomenon to reap what you sow. You cannot reap corn when you sowed peanut, or plantain. It is impossible. God has set the world in a motion to retaliate whatever you give it. It is also so with our actions, your actions today will determine your results tomorrow. If you invest time in studying scripture and praying, you will reap righteousness and wisdom in the things of God. If you spend your time lazing about or gossiping about people, stagnation and destruction awaits you.

Let us understand these principles and apply them accordingly in our everyday lives. I pray God helps us to be guided in our thoughts, actions and works. So we can sow profitable seeds with whatever we do. Again, I pray we overcome toxic behaviors that are sowing bad seeds for us to reap in the future, Amen.
